Protecting your passwords

Your password may no longer be private. Data breaches can expose account details without the people affected immediately knowing.

To reduce the risk:

• Check whether your email address has appeared in a known data breach, using a reputable breach-checking service.
• If an account is affected, change its password promptly.
• Use a strong, unique password for every account. Reusing one password can allow an attacker to access several services.
