Recognising a phishing attack

Phishing on social media can be difficult to recognise. Fake profiles impersonating banks, familiar brands or support teams may send urgent messages such as: “Your account will be deleted. Confirm your details now!” The aim is to make you act before checking.
A link may lead to a convincing copy of a genuine website, but use an unusual domain. Entering information there can expose your account or lead to financial loss.
Be cautious even when a message appears to come from a friend. An unexpected request for money or an unfamiliar link should be checked before you respond.
